Sea Turtle Nesting Season

Sea Turtle Nesting Season in Fort Lauderdale: March 1 to October 31. The Florida coast is the second most popular nesting area in the world for Loggerhead Turtles. Nearly 90% of sea turtle nesting in the U.S. occurs right here in Florida. These creatures will return to their home beaches to lay eggs (around 100 golf ball sized eggs). Greater Fort Lauderdale’s coastal residents and beach visitors donate their time to turtles during the nesting season by keeping beaches clean, being aware of nesting sites and reducing artificial lighting near beaches that can distract and confuse mothers and hatchlings.
